{"id":12500,"date":"2025-12-04T10:13:48","date_gmt":"2025-12-04T09:13:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/?p=12500"},"modified":"2025-12-04T10:16:55","modified_gmt":"2025-12-04T09:16:55","slug":"cameroon-defence-forces-commemorates-34th-edition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/en\/blog\/cameroon-defence-forces-commemorates-34th-edition\/","title":{"rendered":"CAMEROON DEFENCE FORCES COMMEMORATES 34th EDITION OF INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Presiding over the solemn ceremony at the Headquarters Brigade was the Minister of Social Affairs, Pauline Ir\u00e8ne Nguene and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, Said Kamsouloum accompanied by members of government and military officials alongside persons with disability who answered present to give the ceremony the pump and colour it deserves.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-12480\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/34EME-JOURNEE-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-12484\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/34EME-JOURNEE-3-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the event, the Minister of Social Affairs said across the world, more than one billion people live with a disability. This is a powerful reminder of our shared responsibility to build societies that work for everyone. Yet too many persons with disabilities continue to face barriers to education, employment, healthcare and political participation.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-12488\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/34EME-JOURNEE-4-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-12492\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/34EME-JOURNEE-5-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Madame Pauline Ir\u00e8ne Nguene reiterated that, disability inclusion is part of everything we do: from strengthening governance systems and driving inclusive digital transformation, to supporting climate action and sustainable livelihoods that leave no one behind. She cited amongst others the inaugurated complex for disabled military personnel by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph as one of the efforts geared towards giving disabled military and civilian personnel a future.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-12496\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/34EME-JOURNEE-6-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Among the activities carried out were intercultural and sports competitions with relay races of 80 metres by mixed teams of valid and invalid athletes, a running phase of visually impaired persons and the exercise of having to carry a wounded soldier from
