{"id":14000,"date":"2026-05-29T12:15:24","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T10:15:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/?p=14000"},"modified":"2026-05-29T12:18:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T10:18:08","slug":"mindef-visits-construction-site-of-military-footwear-production-infrastructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/en\/blog\/mindef-visits-construction-site-of-military-footwear-production-infrastructure\/","title":{"rendered":"MINDEF VISITS CONSTRUCTION SITE OF MILITARY FOOTWEAR PRODUCTION INFRASTRUCTURE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Located between the CFTA mortuary and football pitch, the 4,850-square-metre site will host the Ma\u00eetre Bottier facility, which is expected to manufacture shoes and boots for all branches of the Defence and Security Forces.<\/p>\n<p>The Head of the construction project at Visa Longchamp SARL, Elie-Martial Chokouaha, presented an overview of the site before leading the delegation on a guided tour of the future production complex.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-13988\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Maitre-Bottier-2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to the project manager, the 1,730-square-metre industrial hangar has been strategically designed to facilitate the smooth circulation of delivery vehicles around the building, thereby reducing accident-prone man\u0153uvres. To address the site\u2019s 2.80-metre elevation drop below the main road, engineers will construct a masonry retaining wall to stabilise the embankments.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-13992\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Maitre-Bottier-3-203x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"203\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Beyond its industrial function, the hangar will include a streamlined administrative wing comprising three offices, an entrance hall, and a dedicated office for the floor manager. The facility will also feature a garment production section, a specialised metal fabrication workshop, a quality control and packaging unit, as well as an assembly hall. Staff amenities such as restrooms and changing rooms have equally been incorporated into the design.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-13996\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Maitre-Bottier-4-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u200eThe completion of the workshop is expected within five months. The project forms part of a broader industrialisation drive within the Defence sector, which also includes plans for a munitions factory and an armoured vehicle manufacturing
