{"id":14276,"date":"2026-06-23T11:45:26","date_gmt":"2026-06-23T09:45:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/?p=14276"},"modified":"2026-06-23T11:49:10","modified_gmt":"2026-06-23T09:49:10","slug":"presidential-guard-kicks-off-holiday-sports-activities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/en\/blog\/presidential-guard-kicks-off-holiday-sports-activities\/","title":{"rendered":"PRESIDENTIAL GUARD KICKS OFF HOLIDAY SPORTS ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND SOCIAL COHESION"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commander of the Presidential Guard Colonel Beko\u2019o Abondo Raymond Jean Charles presided over the launching ceremony of the camp doped \u2018\u2018PG Holiday Sports 2026\u2019\u2019 on June 22, 2026 at the Multipurpose Sports Complex of the Presidential Guard in the Yaounde, Obili neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-14248\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/8eme-EDITION-2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-14252\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/8eme-EDITION-3-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The ceremony which witnessed the presence of Cameroonian football giants in the persons of Aboubakar Vincent and Andre Onana entailed the singing of the national anthem by the Presidential Guard music band, an inter religious prayer session, a march past by the children and a guided tour of all the workshops by Colonel Beko\u2019o Abondo Raymond Jean Charles who at the end recommended that the safety of the kids be top priority.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-14260\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/8eme-EDITION-5-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-14256\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/8eme-EDITION-4-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This laudable initiative which began in 2016, is at its 8th edition and targets primarily children of both sexes aged between 2 to 16 years with special attention paid to orphans in general and particularly to orphans of the Defence Forces. This year, 2000 children enrolled in the 23 existing domains among which are football, volleyball, basketball judo, karate, tennis, athletics and lots more under the watch of over a hundred military and civilian supervisors from June 22 to August 14, 2026.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-14264\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/8eme-EDITION-6-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This activity not only serves as a way of discovering young talents but aims to strengthen social cohesion by bringing children together in an environment that promotes friendship, teamwork and national unity.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-14268\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/8eme-EDITION-7-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\"
