A Saint-Cyr graduate, the International War College of Yaounde graduate and specialist in several operational fields, he has served in Bakassi against Boko Haram and hostage-takers, in the North-West and South-West Regions against maritime piracy.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-15872\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/NCHANKOU-4-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wounded in action in 2016, he went on to serve as Head of the Joint Operations Centre and Deputy Chief of Defence Staff in charge of Operations. At an age and stage of service when many officers move further from frontline realities, his record remains closely connected to the demands faced by troops on operations.<\/p>\n<p><img
