The closing ceremony took place at the Conference room of the High Command for Gendarmerie Schools and Training Centres (CECIG) under the chairmanship of Colonel DJATCHOU Hilaire, Inspector General No 1, representing the SED/CGN. The festivities for the end of the 3rd SCUG were enhanced by the presence of Rear- admiral Jean MENDOUA, Navy Chief of Staff.
This course, which began on 2nd September 2024, aimed at enabling the future Unit Commanders to develop skills in order to assume organic or operational command of a Gendarmerie Unit. Over a period of five months and two weeks, trainees were taught theoretical and practical lessons divided into 5 modules: Law and enfoncement, Professional Intervention, Tactics (counter-terrorism and operational territorial defence), Criminal Investigations, General Military Training and Principles of Gendarmerie Command. Numerous field trips and a study tour in the Center Region also enabled the trainees to gain hands-on experience of the operational realities of Territorial and Mobile Units, and to enrich their knowledge. This 3rd SCUG was crowned by a 100% success rate, with an average of 14.23/20.
In his speech, Inspector General No 1, representing the SED/CGN, urged the graduates to put what they had learned in good use, while reminding them of the challenges they would have to face in a constantly changing environment. He also enjoined discipline, rigor, dedication to work, team spirit and a sense of responsibility.
Armed with their Unit Commander diplomas, these officers have now been declared able to lead Mobile Gendarmerie Squadrons and Territorial Gendarmerie Companies, and to hold certain functions in the Central Services.
