In a scuffle with his attackers, the thugs stabbed him several times before fleeing.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7912\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/gendarmerie-nationale\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/02\/AKAK-1-257x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"257\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>An investigation was immediately opened at the Nkolondom Gendarmerie Brigade. Initial investigations revealed that the alleged murderers used the victim&#8217;s and his friend&#8217;s phones to extort money from their relatives. With the assistance of the DSP, elements of the Mfoundi Territorial Gendarmerie Regiment arrested one of the alleged murderers on 16 January 2026 in the Etoudi neighbourhood.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7920\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/gendarmerie-nationale\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/02\/AKAK-3-300x267.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"267\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to Lieutenant-Colonel NDONGO Jean Alain, the suspect is a criminal specialise in armed robbery. He had escaped from Yoko Central Prison on 2 December 2025 and took refuge in the city of Yaounde.<\/p>\n<p>At the crime scene, in front of the State Counsel of the Mfoundi High Court, the alleged murderer made a full confession and stated that he had been carrying out this activity for several years. He also confessed to being responsible for the insecurity that has prevailed in this area since last December.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7924\" src=\"https:\/\/mindef.gov.cm\/gendarmerie-nationale\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/02\/AKAK-4-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The suspect will be brought before the State Counsel of the Mfoundi High Court in the days ahead.
