Army language laboratory : a landmark acchievement for bilingualism in the Cameroon Defense Forces
On Wednesday October 30, 2024 at the esplanade of the Army Headquarter in Yaounde, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph, presided over the inauguration ceremony of the Army new Language Laboratory, innovated by “VISA LONGCHAMP COMPANY LT”.

This architectural jewel is a pivotal step towards improving communication and cultural awareness within the Defence Forces.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, highlighted that this language lab will go a long way to foster Bilingualism, which is not just a cultural asset but a unifying force within the nation and an essential passport in the global arena.

This modern laboratory facility covers a surface area of approximately 556m2 and contains offices, modern classrooms, a digital library and an advanced technological installation, including a robust information technology (IT) network for wireless communication. Languages taught in this laboratory will include English, Turkish, Arabic, Russian, German, Portuguese, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish. This academic jewel is dedicated to fostering bilingualism amongst the civilian and military personnel of the Ministry of Defence.

By providing the personnel with vital language skills, this language laboratory will prepare them for successful participation in military missions abroad, international training programs and will enhance their effectiveness in diverse global environment.
