A gift of sound: Ministry of Defence, STARKEY FOUNDATION empower Military Personnel and Citizens
In a heartwarming display of partnership and compassion, the Ministry of Defence through the Yaounde Military Hospital, in collaboration with Starkey Hearing Foundation, launched a free earpiece campaign from June 25 to 26, 2025, at the Military Disabled Personnel Complex.

This initiative aims to provide life-changing hearing aids to military personnel and civilians in need, bridging the gap between those who can afford this technology and those who cannot.

The Starkey Hearing Foundation, a global leader in hearing restoration, has been dedicated to providing hearing aids to those in need since its inception. Founded by William H. Starkey Jr., the foundation has distributed millions of hearing aids worldwide, transforming the lives of countless individuals. Through its partnership with the Ministry of Defence, the foundation is bringing its expertise and resources to the table, ensuring that those who have served their country receive the care they deserve.

The campaign’s comprehensive approach involves a series of workshops, carefully designed to educate patients about their hearing health. The process begins with patient education, followed by registration, otoscopy, earmold, hearing aid fitting, counseling, and final quality control. Each patient undergoes this rigorous process to ensure that their specific hearing needs are met, and they receive the most suitable hearing aid.
