Free medical campaign by Brain Project Africa Foundation
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, Said Kamsouloum on behalf of the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, granted audience to a team of the Brain Project Africa foundation on July 26, 2024 at the conference hall of the Communication Division of the Ministry of Defence.

During the audience which was held in prelude of the official launching ceremony of a free medical humanitarian campaign, pioneered by the Brain Project Africa foundation in favor of the Cameroonian populace on July 31, 2024 in Garoua, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, expressed profound gratitude to the president of the foundation, Dr Jean Louis Benea and his entire team for this ground breaking initiative.

The Brain Project Africa Foundation is an initiative of a young Cameroonian neurosurgeon, Dr Jean Louis Benea who together with his counterpart of Ghanian descent, Dr Nana Appiah aim at promoting neuroscience education, research and advocacy in Africa. Hence, by advancing neuroscience in Africa, the foundation aims at improving lives, address health disparities and contribute to global scientific progress. It is in this light that, as a way of giving back to his country of origin, American-based, Dr Jean Louis Benea and his team will camp in Garoua from July 26 to August 5, 2024 to offer free and quality specialized services by renowned international doctors in the domain of neurosurgery.

It should be noted that a similar exercise was carried out by the Brain Project Africa Foundation in 2021 at the Maria Rosa Nsisim foundation. They are coming for the second time to Cameroon to conduct free medical expertise on the population in the domains of neurosurgery, surgery, orthopedic surgery, maxillofacial surgery, general and visceral surgery, thoracic surgery, anesthesiology, dental surgery and internal medicine.

The campaign will be divided in two phases, capacity building and medical care thus, diverse surgical operations such as spinal cord, brain tumor surgeries and cleft lip repairs will be top on their agenda. With this, it is crystal clear that, the Brain Project Africa Foundation will be warmly welcomed by the population of Garoua in particular and the Cameroonian population in general
