On February 14, 2026, at around 11:00 p.m., 25 members of the 21st Support and Intervention Company (CAI) of the 21st Marines Battalion (BAFUMAR) of EKONDO-TITI carried out an operation that led to the release of 31 hostages abducted by separatist groups in NYANGA, BAKASSI BUSH, and PAMOL CAMP.

Held in MUNYENGUE and subjected to a ransom demand of five million CFA francs per person, the captives were rescued following a 60-kilometer nighttime infiltration and a violent clash, despite being used as human shields.

The operation resulted in the safe release of all hostages, the seizure of two weapons and ammunition. The former hostages were taken to the command post and then handed over to the EKONDO- TITI gendarmerie for investigation.
