Moral chat on good health practices: Health specialists share their knowledge with the staff of the Human Resources Department
On Friday 02 May 2025, from 11am to 1pm, a moral discussion on good health practices was held in the main building of the Human Resources Department, with the aim of raising awareness of best health practices among the department's staff. Attended by more than 113 personnel, this meeting, organised on the initiative of the Colonel, HRD, brought together specialists in military health, namely Lieutenant-Colonel TAGNE Stève and Captain OMGBE Priscille, all on duty at the No. 1 Regional Military Hospital, who shared their knowledge and expert advice.

The main presenter of the talk, and explained the major role that physical activity plays in good health. He explained that regular exercise can help prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and certain types of cancer. For example, the body needs 150 to 200 minutes of physical activity a week, organised as sports days.

During his talk, he also stressed the importance of a varied and balanced diet, saying, ‘We need to eat to live, but it’s the way we eat that often causes problems’, implying that to be in good health, it’s imperative to eat less fat, sugar and salt, but above all to avoid all types of excess, because even water, the vital drink par excellence, can cause problems if over-consumed, as can fruit.

Finally, body rest was also discussed. Here, the moderator explained the importance of bodily rest, pointing out that it enables the human body to repair and regenerate itself. He also gave advice on how to improve the quality of sleep, for example by eating at reasonable times. The talk ended with a question-and-answer session, during which many participants were able to learn more.

All in all, it was a very rewarding talk, as for almost two hours, all the Directorate’s staff were provided with much-needed knowledge on subjects such as sport, diet and body rest. In his closing remarks, the Colonel, HR Director, thanked the specialists and expressed his willingness to organise further meetings of this nature in the future.
