-28 February 2015: appointed as Chief Medical Officer of  the Fourth Region Military Hospital  (MAROUA).

-17 February 2016: appointed Head of the Fourth Military Health Region, cumulatively with the functions of Chief Physician of the Fourth Region Military Hospital  (MAROUA).

 

-1 April 2020: appointed  Head of Operational Health Division at the Defence Staff

Organisation

The Department of Military Health shall be placed under the authority of a director, an officer who shall be a medical officer appointed by decree of the President of the Republic, assisted if need be, by a deputy, an officer who shall be a military or civilian medical officer appointed by  order of the President of the Republic.

The Department of Military Health comprises of:

  • the secretariat;
  • the Means Bureau;
  • the Stores Bureau;
  • the Continuous Training Follow-up Bureau;
  • the Military Health Research Promotion Bureau;
  • the the Data-Processing Service;
  • the Procurement and Hospital Medicine Service;
  • the Supplies and Maintenance Service;
  • the Pandemic Diseases Control Service;
  • the Operational Health Division :

is a branch of the Department of Military Health placed under the authority of Chief of Defence Staff (CEMA). The Operational Health Division comprises:

    • Means Bureau
    • Studies and Inspection Service to which shall be attached:
      • the Inspection Bureau;
      • the Studies Bureau.
    • Operation Service to which shall be attached
      • the Training Bureau;
      • the Manoeuvre Bureau.

Missions

The missions of the Department  of Military Health

Decree No. 2001/177 of July 25 2001 organizing the Ministry of Defence stipulates that: Article 78: the Department of Military Health shall be in charge :

– developing and promoting military health;

 –  defining  the criteria for fitness to serve in the Armed Forces;

 – defining the hygiene and prophylaxy policy in the Armed Forces ;
 – defining the treatment policy for armed forces personnel and their   families;

– food hygiene;

 – prevention policy and the control of pandemic diseases;

–  pharmaceutical supplies and specific equipment;

– technical support to units and operational health institutions;

– studies concerning the protection of armed forces personnel against  nuclear, chemical and bacteriological war;

– examining health reports;

– defining medical research policy in the Armed Forces;

– following up the technical training of military health personnel;

– administrative and technical supervision of military establishments

– first aid training.

The missions of the Operational Health Division :

Is a branch of the Department of Military Health placed under the authority of CEMA.

Operational Health missions

Under the authority of a head of  Division who shall be medical military officer, appointed by decree of the President of the Republic, the Operational Health Division is responsible for :

  • conducting studies and making genereal summaries concerning health as well as the setting up and in condition of operational health units ;
  • supervising the  application of health measures and  disease prevention in the Forces;
  • ensuring quantity and quality control of food served to personnel as well as their dressing and lodging conditions;
  • improving operational health;
  •  organising health logistics manoeuvres;
  • administering emergency medicine in case of  public disasters;
  •  commanding the medical battalion;
  • take part in  planning  operational health administration.

Military Health missions

Military Health is under the banner of a Department : the Department of Health is made up of Central and External Services,

At the Central level we have the Operational Health Division, the Training and Referral Practising Military Hospital not yet activated but the First Region Military Hospital of Yaounde is carrying out its functions for the time being and finally the Military Health Research Centre CRESAR),

CRESAR is a military health structure specialised in scientific research. This technical platform of several laboratories carries out research on both animals and human beings. It ensures prevention and seroprevalence surveys among military personnel and their families as well as surveillance of certain pandemics such as human influenza.
