The edifice to host the annex campus is situated at Mballa III in the Yaounde 1 municipality inhabited by the Etoudi people.

In a key-handing and inauguration ceremony on Thursday October 24, 2024, presided over by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph, the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education and Grand Chancellor of Academic Orders, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo and the Minister of Secondary Education, Professor Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa were present to receive the building on behalf of the national education body.

The Metropolitan Arch Bishop of Yaounde, His Lordship Jean Mbarga in his inaugural speech on behalf of the catholic community, thanked the President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces who authorised the social contribution of the defence forces in the construction of academic infrastructures through the Military Engineering Corps. He baptised the campus, ‘Annex Campus Pierre Assiga’ in honour of one of the pioneer evangelist and first catechist of the town of Yaounde.

‘As you know, the Army is at the service of the Nation. As such, it has the duty, in its sovereign republican mission, to protect the integrity of the National territory, to secure people and their property, but also to participate in National development actions so that our country can effectively continue its path towards emergence and prosperity by 2035’, said Beti Assomo Joseph.

In 2021, the Head of State, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces approved the signing of a five-year cooperation agreement between the Archdiocese of Yaounde and the Ministry of Defence, to enable the Military Engineering Corps to carry out works financed by and for the Archdiocese of Yaounde.

The INUCASTY project is the third realised by the Military Engineering Corps following that of the Saint John the Baptist Church of Olezoa and the English section of ‘College de la Rétraite’ in Yaounde in October 2001.
