Attended by senior military officials, government dignitaries, traditional and religious leaders, as well as the bereaved family and mourners, the ceremony began with the positioning of the casket at the centre of the ceremonial parade ground. Brigadier General Nka Valère, Commander of the Joint Military Training Centres and Schools, delivered a poignant funeral eulogy, highlighting the General’s distinguished service. Following the eulogy, Minister Delegate Joseph Beti Assomo posthumously decorated the deceased officer with the medal of the Cameroon Cross of Military Valour. The ceremony concluded with the sounding of the Last Post, marking the final tribute paid to the distinguished senior officer.
Throughout a distinguished military career spanning several decades, Brigadier General Ezo’o Mvondo earned the deep respect of both his superiors and subordinates. Renowned for his intellect, integrity, rigour, punctuality, and devotion to republican institutions, he built a reputation as a model officer dedicated to executing every mission entrusted to him.
His career coincided with a critical era of transformation within the Cameroon Defence Forces. As the military underwent structural modernisation, General Ezo’o Mvondo emerged as a pivotal figure, contributing significantly to strengthening command structures and enhancing operational effectiveness.
Having served on several strategic fronts, the senior officer actively participated in Operation Delta in Bakassi, security operations along Cameroon’s eastern borders amid the Central African crisis, and the preparation of contingents deployed under the International Support Mission to the Central African Republic (MISCA) in 2014.
Following his promotion to the rank of Brigadier General on 13 August 2015, he was placed at the forefront of national counter-terrorism efforts. He played a decisive role in military operations against the Boko Haram insurgency, demonstrating unwavering determination to safeguard national peace and sovereignty.
His longest and most notable command was as Commander of the First Joint Military Region, a strategic position he held for nine consecutive years. During his tenure, he was widely recognized for his firm leadership and uncompromising insistence on military discipline. Even during severe challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, he continuously urged his troops to uphold the core values of duty, professionalism, and selfless service.
Following his passing on 14 July 2026 at the age of 67, the legacy of Brigadier General Ezo’o Mvondo Simon Pierre continues to resonate across the Cameroon Defence Forces. Through his actions, discipline, and profound sense of duty, he leaves behind an enduring legacy of honour, leadership, and unyielding devotion to the Nation.
