The 44-member delegation, led by Vice Admiral Hu Ganfeng, who is also the Director of the National Defence University of the People’s Liberation Army was received by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph on December 10,2024 in the Hall of Acts in the Ministry of Defence.
During the meeting attended by the Ambassador of the Peoples Republic of China to Cameroon, the Inspector General of the Cameroon Defence Forces, the Inspector of Forces as well as other central administrative authorities of the Ministry of Defence, the two sides discussed various aspects of defence cooperation between China and Cameroon.
Speaking during the visit, Minister Beti Assomo Joseph briefed the Chinese delegation on the security challenges facing Cameroon, including the threat of terrorism and piracy in the Gulf of Guinea. The head of the Chinese delegation on his part expressed their admiration for the efforts of the Cameroon Defence Forces in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
The visit of the Chinese delegation to Cameroon will also include a tour of several military installations and defence facilities, including the Yaounde International War College, the International School for Security Forces, the 2nd Joint Military and Gendarmerie Regions, as well as the Douala Naval Base.
The study tour of the Chinese delegation to Cameroon is a significant milestone in the growing defence cooperation between the two countries. It reflects the strong commitment of both nations to strengthening their bilateral relations and addressing common security challenges. As both countries continue to cooperate in promoting regional stability and security, their partnership is likely to play an increasingly important role in shaping the security landscape of Central Africa.
