The dual ceremony that was presided over by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence saw the presence of some members of government, amongst them; the Minister of State, Minster of Higher Education, the Minister, Director of Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic, the Secretary General of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Defence in charge of the National Gendarmerie, the Governor of the Centre Region, members of the diplomatic corps and a cross section of the military high command led by the Major General, Deputy Chief of Defence Staff at the Headquarters’ Brigade.

During the ceremony, the outgoing commander, Colonel Matiang Charles in strict military ritual, made way for his successor to come in and command the troops of the headquarters’ Brigade after being given the command in a ‘prennez le Commandement’ usual phrase by the presiding official.

The Brigadier General, COM RMIA1 urged the personnel of the Headquarters’ Brigade to remain loyal, disciplined, professional and fully committed to the defence of the Nation. He called on personnel of all ranks to join their efforts and work in a spirit of cohesion, responsibility and operational efficiency for the success of the missions that have been given to the new Brigade Commander, Colonel Ekoman.

While addressing the new Commander of the Headquarters’ Brigade, the Minister Delegate at the presidency in charge of defence was confident that his mastery of the Brigade having occupied the position of Chief of staff before being placed at the helm is an asset towards fulfilling the missions that are confided to him by the High Command.

He further cautioned him to work hand in gloves with the Commander of the First Joint military Region, newly installed who happens to be his direct boss towards meeting set targets in the political capital.
