An opening prayer followed, led by Pastor Panle John the National Pastor of Winners Chapels International in Cameroon, who thanked God for elevating one of their own to the rank of Brigadier General. He also committed the ceremony into God’s hands and prayed for journey mercies for all those present.
The family head, Professor Alobwede Epie Charles, then expressed gratitude to God for the General’s promotion, describing his journey as an exceptional one, guided by integrity, loyalty, hard work and the fear of God.
The highlight of the ceremony was the traditional military wetting-down ceremony, presided over by the Minister Delegate. Before the ritual, Major General Ebaka Hyppolite, Deputy Defence Chief of Staff, explained its significance. He likened the watering of the newly worn epaulettes to watering crops so that they may grow and produce an abundant harvest. The Defence Minister performed the first pour, followed by the Delegate General for National Security, Major General Ebaka and other Generals present.
Born on 21 September 1974 in Douala, Brigadier General EPIE NGOME Wilson is a graduate of the 1998–2000 EMIA batch. He holds a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s in Strategic Studies and a diploma from the US Army War College. His career has included command and staff appointments, operational service in the northern regions and responsibilities in military intelligence and air defence. Promoted to Brigadier General in 2026, he currently serves as Inspector of Forces at Defence Headquarters.
The ceremony ended on a colourful note with traditional dances by Kupe-Muanenguba groups. His Peace and Stability batch mates later presented him with a sword, symbolising their wishes for success in his new rank.
