The Ministry of Defence has made a significant stride in enhancing its operational capabilities with the acquisition of the Nactigal Hydro Electric Power Company (NHPC) area at Ndokoa in the Mbam and Kim Division, covering ninety-four hectares.

This strategic acquisition was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed on December 18, 2024 by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph and the Directors of CCN and ELECNOR companies.

The acquired infrastructure boasts an impressive array of amenities, underscoring the commitment of the Ministry of Defence to providing top-notch facilities for its personnel. Notable features include recreational areas for football, volleyball, lawn tennis, and two fully equipped sports halls and swimming pools for military physical and sports training. Medical facilities comprise two equipped infirmaries and a medical ambulance, ensuring prompt healthcare services. Logistical support is reinforced by a functional fuel compartment and two laundries equipped with washing machines and industrial ironing tables. Power generation is guaranteed by generators in excellent working condition. Water management is ensured through three boreholes, a water purification station, and two reservoirs. A wastewater treatment plant and waste collection and processing system complete the facilityโ€™s utilities.

Accommodations are provided in air-conditioned facilities with a total capacity of 700 beds. Modular buildings serve as office spaces, while two modular restaurants offer seating for 500 personnel. Safety services include a fire station equipped with a fire rescue vehicle.

Speaking during the ceremony the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph commended the efforts of all parties involved in the retrocession project. While emphasizing the importance of responsible utilization of the infrastructure, warning of severe sanctions for any damages.

This acquisition represents a significant enhancement to the Ministry of Defenceโ€™s operational capabilities. By providing modern facilities, the Ministry demonstrates its dedication to the welfare and effectiveness of its personnel.
