BETI ASSOMO INAUGURATES CENTRAL TAILORING WORKSHOP FOR THE ARMED FORCES, GENDARMERIE
The Ministry of Defence has an Ultra-Modern Central Tailoring Workshop for the Armed Forces and the Gendarmerie. This edifice located in the neighbourhood of Ekounou in Yaounde was inaugurated by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph on Thursday September 25, 2025, a vision of the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

While inaugurating the structure implanted on a surface area of 1730m2, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence recapped the initiative of the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to reduce expenses on importation of different products. It is in this vein that, the Ministry of Defence has taken the bull by the horn on esteemed instructions of the Head of State and Commander-in- Chief of the Armed forces to put in a place a Military architectural industry to reduce high dependency.

Minister Beti Assomo Joseph revealed that the Central Tailoring Workshop for the Armed Forces and Gendarmerie has the capacity to produce over 750 combat outfits daily thanks to the expertise of the its personnel made up of military and civilian tailors not forgetting some Ex-servicemen who excelled in the profession while in active service, a way no doubt to reinsert them.

He added that the tailoring workshop will also serve as a training centre for young Cameroonians willing to outclass in the domain of clothing. Beti Assomo Joseph added that the tailoring workshop will not produce only uniforms but other military gears like boots, bullet proves and a myriad of others.

During the guided tour in the tailoring workshop after the symbolic cutting of the ribbon in the presence of administrative and military authorities, the Chief of Logistic Reserve, Navy Captain BILIGHA Adolphe and Head of the tailoring workshop, Captain TSIFACK NELLY, said the workshop is specialized in the alteration, patch-up, and conception of military uniforms and formal wears, ensuring that garments meet specific standards for appearance, functionality, and comfort.

They as well added that the tailoring workshop will handle a range of services including hemming, fitting, patch sewing, and custom creations, often using precision and high-quality materials to maintain the professional and consistent look of military attire for various occasions, from daily to ceremonial.
