This project is in line with the vision of the Head of State, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to develop and modernize the infrastructure of the Defence Forces, with objective to enhance the country’s military capabilities and training standards.
The EMIA campus, spanning 45 hectares, will provide cutting-edge facilities for the training of Cameroonian and foreign military officers. The first phase, which commenced on February 15, 2024, is approaching completion, with 90% of construction works finished. Notably, this phase is expected to be completed by February 2025 instead of February 2026, a year ahead of schedule.
The campus will boast an array of modern facilities, including a police post, Initial Training Division building, classroom buildings, Non-commissioned Officers’ building and special facilities for military and combat training. The project also encompasses the development of surrounding areas, including a generator room, main courtyard, asphalt access roads, playgrounds and sports pitches.
The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph, has been closely monitoring the project’s progress. This third visit to the construction site underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring the project’s successful completion.
During his visit, Minister Beti Assomo Joseph commended the personnel of the Military Engineering Corps for their exceptional efficiency and assiduity in carrying out their duties. He praised their dedication to modernizing Cameroon’s defence infrastructure, acknowledging their tireless efforts as a testament to their professionalism.
The EMIA campus project consisting of three phases will mark a significant milestone in Cameroon’s defence infrastructure development. Upon completion, the modern facilities will enhance the training standards and capabilities of Cameroonian and foreign military officers, contributing to regional stability and security. The project demonstrates the government’s dedication to strengthening its defence forces and promoting peace in the region.
