DEFENCE COOPERATION: CAMEROUN, TURKEY DISCUSS PROGRESS AND FUTURE PLANS
The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph on June 12, 2025, granted audience to a 5-man Turkish delegation led by Brigadier General Erdogan Catal, Head of the Division for External Relations at the Turkish Defence Headquarters who was accompanied by the Turkish Ambassador to Cameroon, His Excellency Volkan Oskiper. The delegation, which arrived Cameroon on June 10, for two days engaged in productive discussions with their Cameroonian counterparts.

During their stay, the Turkish delegation held meetings with personnel of the Ministry of Defence to review the progress made in implementing agreements and identify areas that require further cooperation. The discussions focused on strengthening defence and security cooperation between the two countries, with a view of advancing their shared interests.

 

As the delegation prepares to depart this evening, the successful visit is expected to yield tangible benefits for both countries, so as to further buttress their strategic partnership and contributing to regional peace and stability. The Minister’s audience with the delegation marked a high point of their visit, underscoring the importance that both countries attach to their defence and security cooperation.
