ESIG CELEBRATES SECOND EDITION OF INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL DAY
In a rich display of inter-continental cultural diversity, interns of the Yaounde International War College (ESIG) on July 13, 2026 marveled visitors who came to witness the display of the cultures of their participating countries that hail from Africa and Europe.

Under the distinguished patronage of the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph, the Major General Tchemo Hector, Deputy chief of Defence led the delegation that presided over the second edition of this International Cultural Day which saw the 23 countries of the 21st batch showcase their cultural heritage through dances, sculpture, traditional meals and other work of arts.

‘At first when I came to this country, I was a bit skeptical, wondering how the training will be, it turned out to be an amazing experience. What I can say to the people back home is that I cannot trade this experience for anything else, my being here has shown me the other side of life, it has permitted me to better relate with Cameroon and not just get information from someone else’, said Lieutenant Colonel Mogae of Botswana.

Among other objectives, the cultural day aims at valorizing the cultures and traditions of member countries, encouraging interactions with the civilian population thereby promoting the Army and Nation bond and creating a favourable atmosphere in extra-curricular activities to get interns.

This activity comes after a two-week recent study visit of a 70-man delegation to Brazil -Rio de Janeiro led by the Commander of the school, Brigadier General Nka Valere aimed at blending theory with practice, having them visit amongst others the Parachute Infantry Brigade, the Joint Peace Operations, Centre and the Brazilian Army Headquarters.
