MEDIA DELINQUENCY, TERRORISM AND ANTI-PATRIOTISM: A HARD NUT TO CRACK

Some have long seen terrorism as a geographically binding by-product which is doomed to vanish into thin air. Others believed they could protect themselves through collusion. But, it is now clear that this demon, having escaped from its box, is duplicating at high speed, spreading wildly uncontrollable catastrophe across the planet. Obviously, it leaves only death and destruction on its path, distressing the powerful, despairing the have-nots, taking the malicious delight of attacking at the very centre of supposedly impregnable fortresses.

Apparently, no security system is neither well-fortified nor deterrent enough to prevent the scourge from invading, spreading, attacking and sliding into the nebula of acolyte, frightened, unconscious or carefree neighbours. Each of us carries the seeds of terrorism in our iPad, smartphone, computer, tablet, television and radio sets, and even in our reading.

What then can be said about the media hype orchestrated by the broadcasters, who are propagandists of terrorism!!! This process consists of promoting unfurling necrotic exploits, since it is now known that the agony of our people and the murder of our soldiers enable individuals get advertisement or increase in their sales.

In the name of a global geopolitics launched to conquer spheres of influence, treaties, pacts and other international commitments intended to guarantee the sovereignty of States are being trampled underfoot. Now that reason has prevailed, some are quick to, whitewash crime and sanctify the criminal, especially when the latter, even the worst of terrorists, is praised and received with formal honours for a job well done, after having been cleaned up.

Perhaps unwillingly, the fact remains that in their desire to attract audience, many of our local media, if it is not confusing grandiloquence, it is disgusting repetition of imported points of view; they even go as far as to inciting devilish thoughts. The far-reaching consequences are felt through the loss of common sense, demoralization of the people, mental confusion, cohesion weakening and worst of it all, the decline of institutions.

Be it media delinquency, terrorism or anti-patriotism, it is a hard nut to crack.

Comparison not being reason, it is all the more interesting to note, in light of the tragedies perpetrated by terrorists in the core of fortress States, how the media of all editorial trends report the situation, admittedly in its cruel state, without exaggeration or trivialization. With a premium placed on information and messages of solidarity, it is essential to raise awareness on the need for collective effort.

The universality and intangibility of information ethics therefore require that the endless imprecatory rhetorics against our security systems, accused of incompetence, can examine or re-examine in the light of these tragedies, which affect us all without exception, the latter would always benefit from being surrounded by loyalty, equity and simplicity.

Thus the fourth estate, our fourth estate, which despite the vicissitudes of existential life, continues to render invaluable services to the Nation, will contribute more effectively to the return of peace throughout Cameroon. This is all about vocation!!!
