We thought we had seen, experienced, endured and overcome it all. But a few bitter individuals and others hungry for sensationalism condemned members of a peaceful community to a murderous fate, unleashing the forces of evil. These forces murder, massacre, disembowel, slit throats, behead, torture and rape in a horrific frenzy that would disgust the devil himself. As always, the perpetrators of these bloody exploits have been lauded on social media and made headlines in the press.
Yet no one has expressed outrage at the killing of children and elderly men and women in GIDADO, North-West Region, on Wednesday, 14 January 2026. No one has vehemently denounced this latest large-scale massacre perpetrated by sadistic individuals zombified by drugs and thirsty for human blood. No one has alerted the Chancelleries and major international bodies to these widely publicised acts of extreme barbarity, which have been claimed and signed by perpetrators whose masterminds are living in exile abroad.
It makes one wonder whether human morality has chosen to shield itself from any impulse of compassion, allowing itself to be driven solely by the political and mercantilist ambitions of a resurgent hegemon!!! Otherwise, in whose interests are the bodies and organisations that are supposed to safeguard universal morality abandoning their impartiality to embrace a murderous bias?
As in previous cases, it is striking that these entities, which are otherwise quick to blame the State of Cameroon for imaginary abuses that they have deliberately spread, remain silent, blind and amnesiac. This attitude of denial amounts to complicity, if not tacit approval, and gives terrorists carte blanche to continue their gruesome acts.
Given Cameroon’s international standing and respectability, many rejoice at the slightest setback. However, this compromising attitude will only further erode the little credibility that informed Cameroonians accord to these supposedly non-governmental organisations, as well as to the media controlled by dubious sponsors.
It is worth reiterating that Cameroon neither seeks nor expects preferential treatment from anyone. Rather, our country simply wants accurate information to be provided on every proven human rights violation. But make no mistake. Since the plot against its sovereignty and integrity was uncovered, Cameroon has been fighting, and will continue to do so with all its might and for as long as necessary, to defeat its enemies. For Cameroonians, nothing is impossible.
