The event marked the handing of attributes to eight newly appointed Major Generals, comprising four Major Generals, two Vice Air Marshals, and two Vice Admirals, as well as seven Brigadier Generals, made up of six Brigadier Generals and one Rear Admiral. These officers were promoted by Presidential Decree No. 2025/308 and 2025/309 of July 15, 2025, signed by President Paul Biya.
Additionally, the ceremony included the installation of the new Army and Air Force Chiefs of Staff. The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph, handed attributes to the newly promoted officers, underscoring the importance of the occasion. The ceremony was attended by government officials, civil, religious, and traditional authorities, reflecting the esteem in which the event was held.
The highlight of the ceremony came when Minister Beti Assomo Joseph proceeded with the installation of Major General Saly Mohamadou as the new Army Chief of Staff, succeeding Major General Baba Souley, and Air Commodore Eba Eba Bède Benoît as the new Air Force Chief of Staff, succeeding Vice Air Marshal Momha Jean Calvin.
Speaking during the ceremony the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, reminded the newly appointed that uneasy lies the head that wears the crown and that to whom much is given much shall be required. To attend their road maps, they should not tolerate any form of indiscipline within the ranks.
Following the official part of the ceremony, the floor was given to the wives of the newly promoted and installed officers to felicitate their husbands.
