Received at the school campus by the Commander of ESIG, Brigadier General Nka Valère, Galaxe Etoga Yves Landry alongside military and civilian officials watched the candidates drawn from 25 African countries and France as they marched into the amphitheater wherein they placed their country’s flags at the podium where the Commander of the school and Professor Owona Nguini presented the teaching staff for the 11-month courses of this international war college.
The inaugural lesson by Prof Yebega Ndzana Nicolas was centered on the ‘Future of Africa faced with our todays New World Order’ where he reiterated that our geopolitical context as the capacity of states to positively or negatively influence the affairs of others so that the latter take actions that will be in their interest.
He stressed on the marginalization of Africa which leaves her in a total dependence in domains of their no representation as permanent member at the UN Security Council, the absence of Nuclear Capacity, finance, health, economy and a host of others.
He called on African countries to know how to play the game by being careful getting out of the present dependence and falling into the trap of even a worse dependency. Using China as an example, he stressed that our countries should develop strategies to come out of debts and prioritize their autonomy.
‘I want to remind you that ESIG is a place of excellence, rigor and excellence. You begin a very demanding training that will permit you to master the ever-evolving global threats’, said Brigadier General Nka Valère while addressing the 59 candidates at ESIG.
The War college that gained more international recognition thanks to the signing of a bipartisan partnership between Cameroon and France, activating a cooperation with the Paris War College in 2008 was a guarantee for a complementarity in teaching skills, making the Yaounde War College a pole of excellence for superior military education of 2nd degree in Africa.
