Before the start of the church service, in a heartwarming display of faith and unity, Defense and Security Forces, that is, personnel from the Presidential Guard, the National Gendarmerie, the Army, Airforce, Navy, Firefighter’s and the Police who gathered for a special worship service in the Basilica of Mary Queen of the Apostles took part in a procession which depicted a sense of community and camaraderie. This was followed by the solemn entrance of the national flag and singing of the national anthem by the faithful once more portraying that authority comes from God.
After a rundown of the different reforms and origin of the Roman Catholic Church by His Lordship Jean Mbarga, he preached on togetherness, reiterating that soldiers should be instruments of peace by working together irrespective of tribe, background and religious differences even in the most difficult moments as they have been ordained by God to serve humanity in justice. It was equally an occasion to pray for peace to reign in the country especially during this electoral period.
After mass, the archbishop expressed gratitude to the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President Paul Biya for making this grand meeting of the Defense and Security Forces possible. He also explained that this jubilee had earlier been commemorated in February, 2025 in Rome and it was ideal for it to be actualized in Cameroon.
The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in Charge of Defense, the Delegate for National Security, the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Women Empowerment and the Family, top government and military officials were among the faithful during the church service.
The church service ended in a festive way as the archbishop wined and dined with all who were part of the church service during a common meal offered for the occasion of the jubilee.
