Beti Assomo Joseph presided over the medal awards ceremony of some three French military officers on Tuesday July 23, 2024 at the Hall of Acts in the Ministry of Defence.
The French officers amongst which were Colonel Broudin and Lieutenant Colonels Deshayes Stephane and Laroquette Alban who came to the end of their stay in Cameroon were exceptionnally awarded the medal of Knights of the Camerooonian Order of Merit.
These military Officers dedicated several years to enhancing military cooperation between Cameroon and France, focusing on various areas. French military personnel have been instrumental in training Cameroonian forces, significantly enhancing their skills and operational capabilities. Regular joint military exercises have also been conducted to improve interoparability and strengthen tactical collaboration between the two armed forces.
Speaking during the ceremony, Minister Beti Assomo Joseph saw in this ceremony a great moment of friendship, exaltation and reaffirmation of the old and solid ties that unit Cameroon and France in the field of defence. Minister Beti Assomo Joseph also seized the opportunity to hail the participation of the Cameroonian detachement in the recent parade on 14 july, 2024 the historical day in which the French nation is united around its armed forces to celebrate the great victories of the BASQUE to honour those who have fallen in the of line duty. He did not equally fail to congratulate the French compatriots for their expertise, sense of duty and spirit of camaraderie demonstrated during their stay in Cameroon.
In order to acknowledge the valorous work of these men in uniform, he further recapped that the French diplomatic soldiers are true ambassadors of France as they have brillantly distinguished themeselves through their hard work thus, gaining the esteem and consideration of the President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
