MINDEF GRANTS AUDIENCE TO HIS TURKISH COUNTERPART
The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence on May 7, 2025 received in audience his Turkish counterpart His Excellency Yaşar GÜLER, who is visiting the Republic of Cameroon for the 3rd session of the Cameroon-Turkey Joint Commission, scheduled from May 5 to 7, 2025.

This session, held 11 years after the first two commissions in August 2003 and June 2014, is part of the mechanisms established to strengthen relations between the two countries. Especially, as Cameroon hosted the 2nd Political Consultations with Turkey on February 19, 2024.

During the in-camera audience, the two ministers discussed on finalizing the legal framework for military cooperation, including the ratification of the agreements on April 27, 2021 as well as the Military Training Cooperation Agreement signed on January 30, 2018, in Ankara, giving new momentum to bilateral military cooperation between both countries.

The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence also thanked his Turkish counterpart for providing free training for Cameroonian Cadet Officers and Non-commissioned Officers at Turkish military academies. Not leaving out the hosting of the Yaounde International War College (ESIG) in June 2024 and the International School for Security Forces (EIFORCES) in July 2023 during their respective field study missions.

The meeting between the two ministers was a fruitful one, with both parties exchanging gifts to commemorate the occasion. This development is a welcome sign for both countries, as it demonstrates their shared commitment to regional stability and security.
