The Multi-purpose Sports Complex of the Presidential Guard was packed with people from all walks of life, including pupils from the nursery and primary schools of the Presidential Guard, as they gathered to mark the opening ceremony of the 40th anniversary of the Corps. The celebration began with an inter-religious service conducted by Reverend Father Andrรฉ Cyril Awoa (Catholic), Reverend Ngema Mba (Protestant), and Imam Nsangou Moussa (Muslim), all chaplains of the Presidential Guard.

The chaplains’ interventions shared a common theme, praying for God’s continuous guidance not only for the Commander but also for all soldiers of the Corps. The commemoration aims to strengthen patriotism and the Army-Nation bond by promoting citizenship and individual commitment, including defending the country. It also seeks to reinforce esprit de Corps and cohesion within the Formation, highlighting its heritage and looking towards the future.

The second phase of the program took place at the Amphitheatre Rear Admiral Mendoua Jean, where panel discussions were held. The discussions featured testimonies from former Republican Guards who served until its transition to the Presidential Guard, the 42 pioneers recruited in 1985, the first six female personnel recruited as secretaries and health workers, and the 400 contingent. Key takeaways from the exchanges included the secret behind their success and advice for the younger generation to ensure the successful continuity of the Presidential Guard.

The 40th anniversary celebration is a testament to the Presidential Guard’s dedication and service to the nation, and it serves as a reminder of the importance of unity, patriotism, and commitment to the country’s emergence. It is worth noting that the activities will run from 21 to 23 May 2025, in the barracks of the Presidential Guard.
