PRESIDENTIAL GUARD KICKS OFF HOLIDAY SPORTS ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND SOCIAL COHESION
The Presidential guard has in its quest to solidify the Army and the Nation bond organized the 8th edition of the holiday recreational activity for kids.

The Commander of the Presidential Guard Colonel Beko’o Abondo Raymond Jean Charles presided over the launching ceremony of the camp doped ‘‘PG Holiday Sports 2026’’ on June 22, 2026 at the Multipurpose Sports Complex of the Presidential Guard in the Yaounde, Obili neighborhood.

The ceremony which witnessed the presence of Cameroonian football giants in the persons of Aboubakar Vincent and Andre Onana entailed the singing of the national anthem by the Presidential Guard music band, an inter religious prayer session, a march past by the children and a guided tour of all the workshops by Colonel Beko’o Abondo Raymond Jean Charles who at the end recommended that the safety of the kids be top priority.

This laudable initiative which began in 2016, is at its 8th edition and targets primarily children of both sexes aged between 2 to 16 years with special attention paid to orphans in general and particularly to orphans of the Defence Forces. This year, 2000 children enrolled in the 23 existing domains among which are football, volleyball, basketball judo, karate, tennis, athletics and lots more under the watch of over a hundred military and civilian supervisors from June 22 to August 14, 2026.

This activity not only serves as a way of discovering young talents but aims to strengthen social cohesion by bringing children together in an environment that promotes friendship, teamwork and national unity.

The innovation this year is the introduction of the Nanbudo discipline, children’s playground and a cooking workshop while excursions to the Reunification monument, the National museum, the Congress Hall and the Independence Square have been scheduled.
