SPECIAL GP-BIR RECRUITMENT: MIDJIYAWA BAKARY hands t-shirt to ACHING GARGA Raphael double race winner.
The principle of many are called but few are chosen is the bitter lesson learnt in the Far North Region.

As out of the five thousand candidates who deposited their documents in the region, four thousands were declared apt after the preliminary medical visits. While after the direct elimination race of 20km with a sand load of 20kg, only eight hundred candidates succeeded in making it to the next face of the competition in Maroua.

Amongst the chosen few was twenty years old ACHING GARGA Raphael from the Diamare Division who emerged first in both races and received his jersey from the number one of the region, Governor MIDJIYAWA BAKARI and the giant atlas of the race, jersey number 800 was handed by Colonel PELENE Francois. While the second, twenty-one years old ABBA Barka from the Logon and Chari Division received his, from the Commander of the 4th Joint Military Region, Major General SALY MOHAMADOU.

Speaking to the media after the race the governor congratulated the efforts of the youths of his Region for haven braved the odds to answer to this noble call of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Paul BIYA for the opportunity given them to become an actor in the defence mechanism of their fatherland. The Governor concluded by thanking the recruitment commission for the well-organised and coordinated nature of the race as no case of casualty was recorded irrespective of the turnout.

Based on three solid pillars; Ethics, Transparency, and equity for all, the recruitment commission from big to small are mindful of the fact that these recruits today will become colleagues tomorrow. Therefore, if they do not recruit the best and disciplined candidates they are preparing their own time bomb, which will kill no one else but themselves when given the opportunity. For recruiting, a man without integrity or a drug addict is like drinking acid hoping it will become juice in your stomach.
