The Chinese Hospital Ship “ Peace Ark” bids farewall
After one week of intensive medical health care services in the town of Douala, more precisely onboard the Chinese Military Hospital Ship, ‘Peace Ark’ and in other medical facilities of the town,

the humanitarian health mission of the Chinese government to Cameroon has come to an end.

Among the visited hospitals, the second Region Military Hospital, the General Hospital, Laquintinie and the Gynaeco-obstetric and pediatric hospital were the venue for the plethora of patients who benefited from services in the domains of pediatrics, ophthalmology, dermatology, general surgery and more.

 

Having an average of 600 patients received daily by the various teams deployed at the port and the town, the mission ended having attended to over 6000 medical cases, amongst them 20 cataract operations making Cameroon the 48th Country to benefit from this philanthropic project.

The Littoral Governor, Samuel Ivaha Diboua saluted the commitment of the Chinese team of doctors as they not only attended to patients but shared knowledge with their Cameroonian counterparts. Their navy carried out joint sea operations with the Cameroon soldiers under the watch of the Port Authorities.

 

In a farewell gesture of the crew members, the ship left the deck with next destination, Benin. The mission ran from October 7 to 14 2024.
