During the campaign, the Director General of the National Blood Transfusion Center in Cameroon, Professor Mbanya Dora Ngum Shu marked her presence and expressed satisfaction on the dispositions put in place to ensure that the donors are eligible, well oriented and taken care of before, during and after blood donation.
Leading by example, the commander of the Presidential Guard, Colonel Beko’o Abondo Raymond Jean Charles subjected himself to the blood donation ritual, boosting those under his command to do same.
Personnel of the Presidential guard as well as the civilian population came out in their numbers to carry out this act of selfless concern for the wellbeing of others without expecting anything in return, once more demonstrating the ever-existing bond between the Army and the Nation.
According to the head of the Presidential Guard medical center, Colonel Epanya Endale Fanny, this laudable initiative accounts for the Presidential Guard’s contribution to the relief support of troops engaged on different theaters of operation. The pints of blood after passing through the Department of Operational Health of the Ministry of Defence, will be dispatched to military hospitals and used for medical interventions thereby, remedying to blood scarcity in military hospitals and above all saving lives.
Some hours later, sports activities at the multipurpose sports complex of the Presidential Guard took center stage. It involved disciplines such as football, volleyball, table tennis, tennis, petanque, billards, athletics and recreational activities such as ludo, songho’o, checkers and so forth. Presidential Guard personnel of various contingents, wives of Officers, teachers of the Presidential Guard schools and some of its associations were actively involved. The handing of trophies to winners of all disciplines marked the end of the sports activities.
The essence of this sports activities is to reinforce cohesion within the Corps while building a bridge between the old and new generation. The celebrations culminated on Friday, May 23, 2025 with the hoisting of the flag and a common meal in all barracks of the Presidential Guard. After 4 decades of dedication and remarkable achievements, the Presidential Guard’s fighting spirit remains ignited more than ever before.
