Focus on the new uniform for Ex-servicemen
The new uniform for Ex-servicemen which officially saw the day in 2022, in replacement of the former khaki worn by the Ex-service personnel has been one of the pivotal points of the Property and Logistics Service of the Secretariat of State in Charge of Ex-servicemen and War Victims.

The head of the service Cne Nguesama Marie who oversees the distribution of the uniforms in the 10 regions of Cameroon for 3 years now, gives us some insides about the new uniform.

The Property and Logistics Service is resonsible for studying and planning supplies, fitting out premises, acquiring and maintaining vehicles and storing and distributing clothing.

The fiftieth anniversary of Unitary State, celebrated on 20 May 2022, was a special moment for our Ex-Servicemen, who were honoured and made a good impression with their new ceremonial dress. Mindful of the image of those who have served the nation with honour and loyalty, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Defence in Charge of Ex-Servicemen and War Victims, Mr KOUMPA ISSA, has prompted the production by MINDEF of a new uniform designed to gradually replace the khaki uniform worn by ex-service personnel until recently. The visibility of the new parade outfits is set to increase progressively with the new endowments.

Basically, the new outfit consists of a pair of low closed-toe black leather shoes, black socks, grey trousers or skirt with a vertical gold stripe, a midnight blue jacket with the Secretariat of State in charge of Ex-servicemen and War Victim’s  logo on the collar, a white shirt, a midnight blue tie, a grey belt, a grey skullcap and a cap (not available at the moment).

It should be noted that this is the uniform to be worn by invited personnel during military parades. According to the regulations, “retired military personnel should wear civilian clothes”. However, personnel who are authorised to do so may wear the uniform specific to each Defence Force corps on ceremonial occasions, in accordance with the regulations in force. In addition to that, the new uniform is being shared in all the ten regions of Cameroon once a year in view of the celebration of the Unitary day as it’s the case with those still in active service. However for those still wondering how they could get theirs should simply register themselves in the Regional and Divisional services of Ex-servicemen and War Victims in their respective regions where they are enjoying their retirement in other to be taken into consideration when its time for the uniforms to be shared.
