CADET NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICERS OF CIESO COMPLETE 400 KM ENDURANCE WALK: A WALK TO REMEMBER.
Trainees of the Cadet Non-Commissioned Officers Training Centre-CIESO, in a major physical and psychological exercise arrived Yaounde on January 23, 2026 upon completing a 400km endurance walk within ten days from their Koutaba training site of the Noun Division of the West Region of Cameroon.

The walk that began on January 14 saw 1225 soldiers cross the West Region to Yaounde with final destination at the Training Centre for Military Technicians, CFTA in the neigbourhood of EKOUNOU where they are to continue driving lessons for light and heavy weight vehicles; a complementary program to theoretical and physical trainings received in the prestigious Centre that operates within the premises of the Airborne Battalion.

‘The objective of this exercise is to reinforce the physical endurance of the soldiers, to equally help them know their country as we engage in civil military actions for the benefit of the population in the towns they come across. I am very proud of them, by finishing this 400 km walk after 19 months, I believe that they are ready’, said the Commander of the institution, Lieutenant Colonel Abdouraman.

A major innovation for the 7th batch is the training of two soldiers from Cote d’Ivoire; Seri Goue Ange and Koffi Ange Clavaire as the Centre through the quality of soldiers it produces has continued to attract more international attention. The Defence Adviser at the Ivorian Embassy in Cameroon used the occasion to meet up with the contingent upon arrival to felicitate his countrymen who are five months away from the end of their training program.

‘’The walk has been a great one from Koutaba to Yaounde, we thank God because with consistency and support from our Commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Abdouraman and the entire staff, we have come this far’ added Cadet Non-Commissioned Officer Tabe Eno.

From Ekounou, the trainees will continue with internships at some formations and units to prepare them for the field while those of the National Gendarmerie will undergo a one-year additional course in judicial policing and public order.
