The ceremony was aimed at formalising collaboration on key defence projects and to reaffirm the government’s commitment to strengthening national defence capabilities.

According to Colonel Ondanga Japhet Sylvain, Director of Joint Military Material, the partnerships will enhance the operational effectiveness of the defence forces, particularly in addressing terrorism and border security challenges.

SOTRABUS will convert 10 vehicles into tactical armoured units to improve troop mobility and protection. CAMEROON INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS will establish a factory to produce spare parts and specialised mechanical components for military equipment, supporting local maintenance and ensuring a steady supply.

Meanwhile, ACCENTURE TECHNOLOGIES will build a factory to manufacture protective gear, including helmets and bulletproof vests fitted with Level IV ballistic plates. The facility is expected to reach an annual production capacity of 25,000 units within three years.

In his address, the Minister emphasised that these initiatives reflect the government’s drive to build a sovereign and competitive defence industry, while promoting job creation and technology transfer.
