Douala Military Hospital rolls out 7th Free Medical Campaign for Thousands
The Second Joint Military Region Hospital in Douala has launched the 7th edition of its free medical consultation campaign, on April 13,2026 reaffirming its commitment to accessible healthcare and community outreach.

Running from April 13 to 17, 2026, the five-day initiative aims to serve at least 2500 people from both military and civilian populations. Patients are receiving care across multiple specialties, including psychiatry, urology, ophthalmology, dermatology, and cardiology offering vital services often beyond the reach of many.

The campaign goes beyond basic consultations, providing preliminary assessments, specialized examinations, and immediate treatment when required. It forms part of ongoing efforts by the defence forces to strengthen civil-military relations through impactful social actions.

Speaking at the launch, the hospital’s commander, Professor Colonel Koki Godefroy, underscored the importance of health as a fundamental asset, noting that the initiative is designed not only to treat illnesses but also to promote preventive healthcare among the population.

In addition to free services during the campaign, participants will benefit from a 50 percent reduction on laboratory tests, surgeries and other hospital services throughout the month of May, as part of activities marking the National Day. Selected ophthalmological surgeries will also be performed free of charge.

Beneficiaries have commended the professionalism and warm reception from healthcare personnel, expressing satisfaction with the quality of care provided.

Now in its seventh edition, the initiative continues to position the military hospital as a key player in community health support, while reinforcing the bond between the defence forces and the population.
