The modern facility was inaugurated on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, by the Minister of Decentralization and Local Development, Elanga Obam, alongside the Vice President of the Senate, Prof. Robert Nkili, and the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph, in the presence of administrative, traditional, and military authorities.

Financed by FEICOM under a partnership agreement signed in July 2022, the project brought together the Akonolinga Council as project owner, FEICOM as financial partner, and the Military Engineering Corps as project manager under the supervision of Colonel NKO’O NKO’O Jean Heribert.

Built as an R+1 structure, the complex includes ticketing offices, commercial shops, a supermarket space, boarding areas, control posts, sanitary facilities, and parking spaces. A 1,700-square-metre loading zone can accommodate six heavy-duty vehicles simultaneously, easing transport operations and congestion.

Completed after 28 months of work, the infrastructure reflects the Defence Forces’ contribution to national development through the Army–Nation partnership concept.
