Arriving Maroua on day two of his stay in the Grand North with a plethora of government officials, a cross section of the military high command and elites of the region and its surrounding towns, Beti Assomo Joseph, in strict military ritual handed over the standard to the new commander who stepped in to command the troop of the fourth military region, after the order ‘take command’.

After observing a minute of silence in honour of fallen comrades and civilians since the obscurantist sect incursion in 2014, Beti Assomo Joseph called on the new Commander to join efforts with his collaborators to totally eradicate the remnant of members of the die-hard sect who have resorted to poaching, hostage taking and arms trafficking.

He used the opportunity to congratulate Far North vigilante committee on behalf of the President of the Republic on their role as informants and guides which has enormously contributed to the successes recorded on the field by the defence forces in the region.

He further beckoned on Brigadier General Nouma Joseph , former Commander of the third Joint Military Region to promote the indissoluble bond that exist between the Army and the nation, keep the Region safe for a free and secure back-to-school period.

This installation announces a new era in a region that has seen the extremist Islamist sect Boko Haram being reduced to sporadic attacks of cowardice mainly on the local population such as suicide bombings, and kidnappings.

The new Commander takes over from Brigadier General Agha Robinson Ndong who through the August 3 presidential decree was appointed Logistics Advisor in the Ministry of Defence
