A strategic road project executed by the Military Engineering Corps, underscoring the commitment of the Cameroon Defence Forces not only to national security but also to nation building through impactful civil engineering works.

Among those present in the road retrocession ceremony were the Minister of Descentralisation and Local Development George Elanga Obam, the Governor of the Centre Region, Naseri Paul Bea, the Delegate General for National Security, Martin Mbarga Nguele, the President of the Centre Regional Council, Gilbert Tsimi Evouna, the City Mayor of Yaounde, Luc Messi Atangana, government, administrative and military officials, traditional rulers, municipal leaders and the local population who came out in their numbers to witness the symbolic cutting of the ribbon and handover of administrative documents by Minister Joseph Beti Assomo to the City Mayor of Yaounde.

The project which was carried out in accordance with High instructions of the Head of State, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, president Paul Biya was executed under the terms of a partnership agreement signed between the Yaounde city council and the Ministry of Defence, with funding provided by the Yaounde Urban Council.

Hence, after nine months of intensive work for a road which covers a total distance of 4,413km with a width of 10m, it not only stands as a testament to the growing role of the Military Engineering Corps in accelerating development and improving the living conditions of the population but aims at improving mobility and facilitating the movement of people and goods within the Yaounde VII subdivision and its environs.

MINDEF saluted the savoir-faire of the Military Engineering Corps and encouraged the population to make good use of the road and preserve it for future generations.
According to the Director of the Military Engineering Corps, Colonel Jean Heribert Nko’o Nko’o, a total workforce of 30 personnel, comprising 20 military engineers and 10 civilian workers took part in the project. The work which commenced under harsh weather conditions on September 9, 2025 was carried out in three phases all of which have been completed in full. The phases included the rehabilitation of foundation and sub-base layers in laterite, extensive drainage works and the construction of the pavement and road shoulders.
