The ceremony provided an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of over two thousand participants aged between 2 to 16 years while highlighting the values of discipline, cohesion, patriotism and excellence that continue to guide the Presidential Guard.

The closing ceremony which brought together military personnel, officials, families and invited guests in a moment of harmony and recognition, featured a series of activities including a march pass by children of all 23 workshops, cultural display through the traditional attires, music and dance steps of all 10 regions of Cameroon, sketches and displays by the workshops, demonstrating not only our traditional heritage but also the skills and abilities acquired during the two months holiday program.

Supervisors and children whose performance stood out during the program which ran from June 22 to August 14, 2026 were awarded medals and participation certificates as encouragement for their dedication and hardwork.

It should be noted that, Brigadier General Beko’o Abondo’s appearance at the ceremony comes shortly after his elevation from Colonel to the rank of Brigadier General and his reappointment as Commander of the Presidential Guard by presidential decree signed on August 3, 2026.

The closing ceremony which unfolded in a context of sensitisation against violence inflicted on children coincidentally took place on the day Cameroon’s Defence Forces are observing Remembrance Day, a day dedicated to honour veterans, former military personnel and victims of war. August 14, 2008 also marked the final peaceful handover of the Bakassi Peninsula from Nigeria to Cameroon.

Above all, it was also another opportunity for the Presidential Guard to reaffirm its commitment to honour, discipline, fidelity and service to the nation.
