Received at the Centre by a guard of honour and later led into the Command Post conference hall by the CISA Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Engoulou Merdard Maximilien who was accompanied by the Dean of Studies, the Commander of the Command and Service Company and other close collaborators, made a brief presentation of the school he took over from on September 9 that is currently hosting 941 trainees from 17 specialties ranging from Stage one to the Second Specialist courses.
It was the occasion for the Commander of the School to present to the Brigadier General the difficulties he and his team encounter ranging from infrastructure, recruitment of permanent and qualified teaching staff and space to host extracurricular activities.
The trainees, 20% women, the Commander said are expected to demonstrate more technical aptitudes in their fields of competence as he deemed the general courses such as mathematics, History or languagesdisseminated within the first 35 days hampering professional and technical knowledge acquisition, with barely months allocated for the refresher courses.
‘We will channel the problems raised here to the hierarchy in order to have lasting solutions. Before I sign a certificate, the weight of that signature should be equivalent to the quality of teaching that you and the teachers give them. I want to see you on the field. Despite the difficulties that you encounter, you trainers have to be examples, shepherds who serve as an example.’. Said COMECIIA before proceeding with a guided tour of the school’s facilities and classrooms where trainees received lessons.
As part of solutions to the problems raised, COMECIIA and team enjoined Lieutenant Colonel Engoulou Merdard Maximilien to propose the CVs of teachers either from the Ministry of Defence or other external actors for the different 17 specialties to be submitted to the COMECIIA who in his turn will proceed with a scrutiny to be sure of the quality of teachings given and if necessary, propose some experts in various fields needing reinforcement.
