Educational establishment in the country are billed to begin on September 9, 2024. As part of back-to-school preparations, the Commander of the Presidential Guard, Colonel Jean Charles Raymond Beko’o Abondo presided over the solemn ceremony to hand over didactic materials and financial assistance to some 691 orphans of military and civilian personnel of the Presidential Guard.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Commander of the Presidential Guard underlined that, this activity that has been adopted as a tradition is an initiative from the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Paul Biya. He also reiterated that this initiative is not just about providing material support, it is a duty of remembrance and a promise they make to their fallen comrades and their families.
Colonel Jean Charles Raymond Beko’o Abondo noted that, the nation will always comfort and support children of the fallen civilian and military personnel of the Presidential Guard while defending the territorial integrity of the Nation. To this effect, he stressed that the children will never be left alone in this difficult moment in their lives most especially as schools resumes in some couple of days. He added that, it is with a feeling of compassion and hope that the packages are handed to the orphans as the state safeguards the fundamental right to education to every child.
It should be recalled that, this 12th edition has seen a steadily growing success and continues to call for more engagement and support for these vulnerable individuals
This ceremony, which generates enthusiasm among the personnel of the Presidential Guard, partners, and beneficiary families, materializes the spirit of cohesion and solidarity encouraged within the Presidential Guard where the well-being of the widows and orphans is truly at the heart of concerns.
