Cameroonian troops earn accolades for outstanding service in MINUSCA : flag handover ceremony marks end of successful deployment for BATCAM 10
The 10th contingent of Cameroonian troops has returned home to a hero's welcome, handing back the flag to the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence at the Headquarters Brigade in Yaounde.

This contingent was the 10th Cameroonian Battalion to serve in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).

Comprised of 1030 soldiers and gendarmes, the 10th BATCAM contingent demonstrated exceptional professionalism and dedication to their diverse and complex missions. Their duties included: protecting civilians and high-profile personalities, ensuring the safety and security of vulnerable populations and key personalities, safeguarding the United Nations materials and installations as well as the restoration of State authority, promoting the re-establishment of State authority in the Central African Republic.

The contingent’s commitment was evident in the emotional farewell from the population of the Central African Republic, who were saddened by their departure thanks to the impacts of their civil military actions in CAR.

Speaking during the ceremony the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph asked for a minute of silence for the two soldiers who lost their lives during the mission, while praising the contingent’s outstanding performance, citing positive feedback from the host country’s authorities and congratulatory letters from officials of the United Nations.

This recognition underscores the Cameroonian Defence Forces exceptional service, despite efforts to tarnish their reputation. The contingent’s exemplary service reflects the Cameroonian Defence Forces dedication to peacekeeping and stability in the Sub-region and beyond.
