The event brought together the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, military personnel, colleagues, friends, and distinguished guests to celebrate a milestone in the general’s military career.

The promotion of Brigadier General Nchankou Oumar which comes after Presidential Decree of August 3, 2026 reflects years of dedicated service, professionalism, and commitment to the defence and security of the nation as the reception provided an opportunity for guests to extend their congratulations and pay tribute to the newly promoted General.

The gathering served not only as a celebration of personal achievement but also as a recognition of the values of dedication, discipline, and excellence that underpin military service.

Operational experience stands out in the career of 51 year old Brigadier General Nchankou Mbouombouo Njindam Oumar, Commander of the 11th Motorised Infantry Brigade. A Saint-Cyr graduate, the International War College of Yaounde graduate and specialist in several operational fields, he has served in Bakassi against Boko Haram and hostage-takers, in the North-West and South-West Regions against maritime piracy.

Wounded in action in 2016, he went on to serve as Head of the Joint Operations Centre and Deputy Chief of Defence Staff in charge of Operations. At an age and stage of service when many officers move further from frontline realities, his record remains closely connected to the demands faced by troops on operations.
