Cadets of the Training Centre for Non-commissioned Officiers, CIESO on Friday January 19, 2024 successfully completed a 400 km endurance walk, one of the major activities in their two-year training curriculum.
This endurance activity that began on January 10, 2024 in Koutaba of the West Region, saw nine days of walk with halts in Makenene, Monatele, Olembe and finally Ekounou in Yaounde.

Major Abdouraman, Commander of the Training Centre for Non-Commissioned Officers, CIESO, said the objective of the 400km walk is to consolidate the physical fitness of the soldiers, work on their endurance capacity to permit them face the challenges that await them. He added that the walk will equally develop psychological aptitudes and a strong character to permit them better lead in the future.

The Cadet Non-Commissioned Officers comprising of 736 of the Army and 375 Gendarmes have in its number 85 trained State registered nurses with the latter expected to reinforce health units of the defence and security forces after the training program.

The Commander of the Training Center, emphasized that, the next two months will consist of simultaneous training courses of two groups in driving lessons of light and heavy-duty vehicles at the Centre for the Training of Military Technicians, CFTA in Ekounou and another at the Military Engineering Training Center CIAP/GEN in Douala.

The two-year training program of the Cadet Non-Commissioned officers began on June 3, 2022 and at the end of the training course, the Non-Commissioned Officers will be awarded the stage two certificate, thus earning the rank of Sergeant for those of the Army and Marechal-de-Logis for those of the National Gendarmerie.

It should be recalled that, the Training Centre for Non-Commissioned Officers, CIESO has trained thousands of Non-Commissioned Officers and it is in its 6th batch.
