Cameroon Military History presented after sixty years of existence.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, Said Kamsouloum on behalf of the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph, on Wednesday December 13, 2023 at the hall of Acts in the Ministry of Defence, presided over the ceremony to present the proceedings of the 2nd National Symposium on Military History. Under the theme “Cameroon Army: 60 years dedicated to the service of the Nation, National Unity and the Defence of the Integrity of Cameroon”.

The rich scientific research write-up made up of eight hundred and ten pages, divided into six chapters containing thirty-three scientific communications is a rich document that contains sixty years of the military history of Cameroon. According to Navy Captain Mbue Ngappe Blaise, the Secretary General of the Cameroon Commission of Military History, this scientific jewel is a way to leave a legacy for posterity, as it has as objective to present to the lime light the evolution of the military history of the country and creates room for further research.

The preface of the book was presented by Professor Efoua Mbozo’o Samuel, member of the scientific commission of the Cameroon Military History. In his presentation he brought out some salient points of the Cameroon Military History ignored by many like the fact that before the Germano-Duala Treaty of 1884 there existed within the tribes, empires and kingdoms, which later made up the Cameroonian territory, defence structures in charge of protecting their territories and conquering new ones. Making it a republican army at the service of the Nation.

Speaking during the ceremony the Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, Said Kamsouloum acknowledged the unflinching support of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, to always accompany the Defence Forces in the accomplishment of their daily missions. He also lauded the efforts of all those who contributed to make this dream come true as the book will not only serve those leaving today but will act as a reference for the future generations.
