End of 6th edition of GP HOLIDAY SPORTS 2024
The Commander of the Presidential Guard, Colonel Jean Charles Raymond Beko’o Abondo on Friday August 16, 2024 presided over the official closing ceremony of the 6th edition of the GP Holiday Sports 2024 at the Multi-purpose Sports complex in Obili, Yaounde.

The sporting event brought together 1. 675 children of both sexes aged between 2 to 16 years who were drilled for 8 weeks on different sporting disciplines amongst which were self-defence, karate, athletism, gymnastic, judo, dance football, volley-ball, handball and above all, they were inculcated with moral and civic education.

This initiative is geared at promoting harmonious coexistence by bringing together children from different social backgrounds, regions and cultures. It also seeks to nurture talents by introducing children to various sports disciplines as well as cultural and artistic activities during the school holidays. The children participated in 21 domains under the supervision of 140 civilian and military instructors.

It should be recalled that, the key innovation of the 6th edition included the introduction of visual art (paintings and drawings), the incorporation of parasports and an escortion to the 101 Airforce Base and the National Museum. The 7th edition is programmed in June 2025.
