Equatorial Patrol 2024: Cameroon Special Forces Honoured.
The 6th Marine Infantry Battalion of French soldiers stationed in Gabon organized the 3rd edition of the International Competition dopped “Equatorial Patrol 2024”. The competition that ran from the 15th to the 26th of January 2024 witnessed the participation of eight countries namely; Gabon, Ivory Coast, Congo, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi and Chad.

Equatorial Patrol 2024 was characterized by different drilling exercises which include; shooting, combat jungle training and follow-up. At the end of the competition, the Cameroon Special Forces under the command of Lieutenant Adoum ABAS Tom, topped the classification table ahead of Congo and Ivory Coast.

The major objective of the exercise was geared at permitting the participating teams to exploit intelligence to better infiltrate the forest, surprise and neutralize alleged enemies in their illegal encampments. The exercise permitted the eight participating teams to evaluate their knowhow as well as make improvement on their operational capacity.

At the end of the international competition, trophies were handed to the outstanding teams by General Jean Bruno Despouys, Commander of French Soldiers in Gabon and Colonel Louis Michel MBOUKOU, Inspector of Technical Services at the General Staff Headquarters of the Gabonese Army, representing Major General Jean Bedel BOUCKA, Chief of Defence Staff. Members of the diplomatic corps and consulars answered present at the Camp de Gaulle in Libreville, Gabon to give the event the pump and colour it deserves.

The outstanding performance of the Cameroon Special Forces during the exercise of this magnitude at the Gabon Forest Combat Training Centre, once again reaffirms the expertise of the Cameroon Command of Military Operations. This International Competition serves as a booster in strengthening the existing bilateral Cooperation between the French and Cameroon Special Forces which dates since 2015.
